The Office combines senior family continuity, principal authority and next-generation investment capability within a defined structure of responsibility.
Len’s lifetime role is representational and ceremonial. He embodies continuity, commitment to the wider family and the traditions of duty and care shaped by RAF service, firefighting and technical work associated with naval detection systems.
Steven is the Office’s Principal and executive steward. He leads strategy, family interests, institutional relationships and selected transactions, and holds ultimate authority over the Office’s capital and principal commitments.
Formally appointed by the Principal, Roger leads investment propositions, participates in family decisions, receives Office reporting and may execute approved commitments as authorised signatory. He holds a First-Class BSc (Hons) in Business Studies.

Industrial leader, public servant and the recognised senior Windmill until his death. Family records associate him with factory leadership, early naval service and Home Guard responsibility. His life marked the family’s transition from older forms of portable wealth and enterprise into modern institutional finance and responsibility.
Alfred’s elder son combined exceptional technical intellect with calm, statesmanlike leadership. His career included advanced radar development, particularly air-to-ground applications and pilot display technologies.
Ronald’s younger brother succeeded him as the family’s senior steward through an expressly recognised family succession in 2018. On the Office’s formalisation in 2026, Len was appointed Honorary Chairman and continues a lifetime of commitment to the wider Windmill family.
Steven formalised the Windmill Family Office, with Roger appointed to lead investment propositions and support the transfer of responsibility and capability into the next generation.
The Office engages external legal, accountancy, tax, banking, valuation and specialist professional advisers according to subject matter, jurisdiction and mandate.
