KNOWLEDGE AS CAPITAL
WFO treats Research as both Intellectual Capital and Knowledge Capital.
A publication is Intellectual Capital where analysis, method, argument or creative expression has been given a form that is retained, protected, applied, transferred or developed. It is Knowledge Capital where information, experience and expertise are organised into the capability to interpret, judge and act.
Publication serves more than communication. It preserves Provenance, reasoning and intellectual development; supports scrutiny and retrieval; and transmits Knowledge across people, institutions and Time-States.
PURPOSE OF RESEARCH
WFO Research improves the maintained Map through which the Territory is interpreted and Decisions are supported.
It tests assumptions, identifies patterns, connects disciplines, records reasoning and makes conclusions available for challenge, revision and application.
The purpose of Research is to improve the Map, not to defend an earlier conclusion merely because it has been published.
MAP, TERRITORY & GENERAL SEMANTICS
WFO distinguishes the Map—language, analysis, model, report or theory—from the Territory it describes.
Research strengthens Decision-making when it states its assumptions, identifies the Evidence upon which it relies, preserves uncertainty and remains responsive to changes in the Territory.
A publication is a Time-Bound Map. Its Value depends upon the quality of its reasoning and Evidence and upon the reader’s understanding of its date, scope and limits.
This approach is informed in part by General Semantics.
RESEARCH INTEGRITY
WFO’s Research record preserves disagreement, correction and change.
Published conclusions are tested against new Evidence, credible alternatives and the consequences that follow from their application. A prior conclusion receives no protection merely because it is familiar, publicly stated or institutionally convenient.
Where the maintained position changes materially, the current record identifies the change. Earlier states remain available where their retention supports Provenance, Time-Binding or an understanding of how the analysis developed.
Research integrity requires accurate attribution, fair representation of competing positions, separation of Evidence from inference and clarity about material uncertainty.
PROVENANCE & ATTRIBUTION
Each publication record identifies its author, publication identifier, original publication date and current status. Where appropriate, it also records the current version, version date, earlier states, source material and external publication location.
External publication on LinkedIn or another platform does not replace the WFO canonical record. The canonical record preserves the publication’s identity and relationship to the wider Research corpus.
Quotations, data and third-party propositions are attributed to the relevant source. WFO distinguishes a source’s statement from WFO’s interpretation or application of it.
PUBLICATION IDENTIFIERS
Each work retains a stable identifier throughout its publication history:
- AI- — Artificial Intelligence;
- DEF- — Defence and Security;
- ECO- — Economics;
- FAM- — Family Enterprise, Learning and Stewardship;
- GOV- — Governance;
- KPP- — Key Performance Predictors;
- LDR- — Leadership, Transformation and Organisational Performance;
- R3- — Recoverability and R³;
- SOC- — Society and related commentary.
The identifier supports retrieval, citation, version control and machine-readable indexing. It does not imply that the work belongs only to one subject domain.
PUBLICATION STATUS
VERSIONING & TIME-BINDING
Research evolves as Evidence, understanding and the Territory change.
Revision updates the current Map; Time-Binding preserves the route by which it was reached.
Material revisions preserve a visible history rather than silently overwriting the intellectual record. Minor presentational corrections do not create a false appearance of substantive change.
CURRENT RESEARCH PROGRAMME
PUBLICATION RECORDS
HTML is the primary public format. PDF is provided where the character or use of a work warrants a fixed document.
Each canonical publication record identifies, as appropriate:
- title;
- author;
- publication identifier;
- original publication date;
- current version or version date;
- publication status;
- version history;
- source and attribution information;
- and external publication location.
RESEARCH & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
Research and commentary do not replace legal, tax, accounting, investment, medical, technical or other professional advice.
Where a publication draws upon a professional discipline, responsibility for any separately commissioned professional opinion remains with the appropriately engaged adviser. WFO Research integrates and tests Maps; it does not assume another professional’s statutory or contractual responsibility.
RESEARCH & PROFESSIONAL ENGAGEMENT
WFO’s Research corpus supports professional dialogue, institutional enquiry and selected appointments where the subject, Purpose and required contribution align.
Publication does not create an offer of services, a regulated relationship or Authority to act for WFO or another person.
DISCLOSURE BOUNDARIES
WFO publishes Research where public access strengthens Knowledge, scrutiny and contribution without creating avoidable personal, commercial, legal, security or institutional vulnerability.
Private Evidence, personal data, privileged material, confidential counterparty information, protected R³ mechanics and transaction-specific analysis remain subject to the applicable disclosure boundary.
RELATED RESOURCES
WFO treats Research and Publications as a developing body of Intellectual and Knowledge Capital: a Time-Bound record of analysis, argument and Learning that remains available for retrieval, testing, revision, application and transmission rather than a static archive of past conclusions.
